REVIEW: Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit

"Hehehe!"

Yah, that's about the best description of this comedic classic, and also something you'll hear throughout the movie from both young and old alike. Though stemming from the original children's TV based Wallace & Gromit stories, with Were-Rabbit, like Chicken Run before it, Nick Park and crew have made something much more enjoyable than a simple children's tale. From the subtle adult humor in places that would fly over the heads of young children (such as a small note on a box held in front of a naked Wallace that reads "May contain nuts") to the amazing visuals (made even more amazing when you think about the effort it took to create the world of Wallace & Gromit), this ranks as the top family movie of the year.

REVIEW: Serenity

I can't believe it's taken me this long to post this review... something's wrong with me, but I guess most of you already new that :-D.

Anyways I'll start by saying that I'm slightly biased in that I've watched the Firefly TV series (the precursor to the movie), and really enjoyed it. Now that I have that out of the way:

MOVIE OF THE YEAR

No joke, this blew away any other movie I've seen this year (including Batman Begins which was outstanding itself), and is seriously the best Science Fiction movie to be released in I don't know how long (maybe Star Trek 6?). From the story, to the audio, to the visuals, to even the message behind the story, Serenity hit the bullseye on all of them. While I would assume anyone that hasn't seen the Firefly series would enjoy the movie, please watch the series first. You'll enjoy the movie so so much more. Give me a ring and I'll send you the DVD set! Joss Whendon is my master now!

My New Bike (Non-Motorized)

While a CBR would be very sweet to have, I actually bought myself a nice new intro road bike, with the intention of starting to ride in to work whenever possible. While this will eventually cut back on my gas costs for day to day travel, it will also help me get back into shape, and especially help build up my legs for ski season. I went out for my trial run yesterday; 0 crashes (a plus since I'm not used to clip pedals), 4 miles. I need to get up to 10 miles for the "to work" trip... Shouldn't be too hard. Here's the beauty:

Update - 2:22PM Monday, October 17th, 2005: Well 10 miles doesn't seem so long anymore; I mad a 12 mile trip on Sunday morning. With a water pack on my back and my iPod playing tunes it was a fun ride, and I could have easily gone further. But I figure it's good to up the distance incrementally.

Finally A Permenant Apartment!

So after almost signing a long-term lease at my current temporary apartment complex, I came to my senses and found a much, much, much nicer place with it's own washer/dryer, swanky resort style atmosphere, covered underground parking with an assigned slot, a nice protected personal balcony, and a larger space (especially the kitchen). It also happens to be right next to the original apartment complex that Boeing put me up in when I first moved down (and how I found out about it). Finally I'll be moving down all my furniture and other personal items from Seattle. Oh how nice it will be to have my own bed to sleep in instead of an air matress, a couch to lay on instead of the floor and just my own stuff again. Now to find a nice 42" HD plasma screen to hang on the wall...
